AN INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE 

This course introduces the basics of pinyin, tones, everyday vocabulary, and simple sentence structures to support and extend students who are new to Chinese or have minimal exposure to the language. We will also explore cultural elements such as the Chinese zodiac and major festivals, using interactive activities and communicative strategies to make learning engaging and fun!

Course Outcomes:
Use basic vocabulary and sentence structures to communicate in everyday situations
Gain foundational knowledge of Chinese cultural traditions, including the zodiac and major festivals
Identify the personality traits associated with Chinese zodiac animals
Develop confidence in speaking and understanding Mandarin in a supportive environment
