Extra Curricular

Sport

Papanui High School Offers a wide range of sports both in Summer and Winter. We have over 32 sports to choose from. Each year we have over 600 students participating in both social and competitive sports.

Sports are broken up into Summer Sports, Term 1 and Term 4, and Winter sport, Term 2 and 3. Most sport is played on a Wednesday afternoon from 3 pm till 4.30 pm, with the exception of a few.

All of our Senior A teams and our Junior teams, where applicable, have the opportunity to compete in various South Island Tournaments both here in Christchurch and spread throughout the South Island.

The School Sport Department is managed by Sarah Lamb - Sport Co-ordinator [email protected] , 03 352 6119 ext 839.

Arts & Culture

Papanui High School offers a busy co-curricular calendar. The Arts are no exception, with active engagement across a broad range of events encouraged and supported by a skilled team of staff.

The Arts also offer school wide opportunities for involvement, with a major school production taking place each year. Either as a Musical or Showquest, these events occur in concurrent years and each involve students working across all aspects of the shows - performing, stage management, costume, make-up, sound & lighting and production.

The school employs a dedicated Arts Coordinator to support teaching staff in enabling a full co-curricular calendar. The Co-ordinator works alongside the school’s highly skilled Arts Teaching Team to deliver a programme of competitions, tours, shows, concerts and activities. Please view the list below for a snapshot of the range in a typical year at PHS.
