BOOK ART - BOOK REPAIR AND RESTORATION COURSE

This is a one day hands on book repair/fixing workshop.  Bring along your book/s and learn how to repair them yourself.  Most repairs are relatively straight forward so that with time, patience and a consistent work ethic you can achieve the best effect.

REQUIREMENTS Participants need to bring a cutting mat, cutting knife (craft knife) and or scalpel, metal ruler, pencil, rubber, Glue (PVA if you have it), Methyl Cellulose and/or paste if you have it. Small brush, 3 x small plastic containers (eg marmite, vegemite or peanut butter jars). Small iron or heating tool, baking paper, small spray bottle for water. There could be an extra charge for special repair paper if needed to repair ripped pages also book cloth used to re-cover spines of books and corners.

BOOK ART - LEARN TO MAKE ECO PAPER PRODUCTS AND  BOOKS 

This one day intensive course will focus on using paper, card, thread, old discarded books, magazines and any other paper based products you can find, to make into useful and interesting treasures and gifts. There will be time to colour paper and ideas for making different objects such as books, boxes, flowers, balls to name a few.  This will be a course where you will make a number of items for yourself or to start your Christmas creations early and make gifts for others.

REQUIREMENTS Students will need to bring cutting mat, cutting knife (craft knife) and/or scapel, metal ruler, pencil, rubber, Glue (PVA if you have it) or similar, double side tape. Paper (any size, shape and colour), light card (from cereal boxes etc), heavier weight card (eg matboard used for mounting pictures and photos. Watercolour pencils, Acrylic paints or dye to colour the paper - these can be shared as you will not need a lot, magazines, old broken book, wall paper, brown paper. All these things are not necessary just bring along what you have at home.

This is a drawing course that focuses on learning how to create a realistic portrait of a person.  The topics in this course include the basic study of the human head and its features, how to measure, correct proportion, tonal values and likeness.  The skill that will be learned from this course could be used for drawing a portrait from a reference photo or from life.
