Kia ora,
It has been a very busy term, and there have been many successes, and much to celebrate. Our whole staff are committed to doing their best to help and support our students to achieve. I am very appreciative of the contribution they continue to make. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we are grateful that we have been able to complete the majority of what would have been a normal Term 1 programme pre-Covid.
I would like to acknowledge and thank our wider community for your support during the term. Whether this is in relation to student classroom learning, attending student meetings and performances, coaching or managing teams or groups, being part of the PTA etc, your help is greatly appreciated.
The Relay for Life to support the Cancer Society was held on the 1st of April at Dudley Park in Rangiora, a phenomenal team of 52 students walked and ran around Dudley Park. As a school, we have raised to date, a total of $9,871.86 with more donations still to come. Regionally $85,000 was raised with 36 teams and 415 individuals.
BUILDING UPDATE
Westhub has just over half of its framing length in place, and by the end of the holidays a comparable picture will look almost twice as long. Also on the good news front our second and slightly smaller second building known currently as Easthub will get underway during Term 2.
END OF TERM FAREWELLS
Sadly we will be saying farewell to Jane Herman, our Music teacher who will be leaving us after 6 years. In her time teaching here Jane has also be a Form Teacher and year level Dean. We would like to thank you for your hard work and contribution to our school. Jane heads to Shirley Boys.
We also say goodbye to Geoff Nunn our Canteen Manager of 11 years. He has taken up a position at the Court Theatre. Next term, Catering Plus have been contracted to run the Canteen. Their emphasis is on healthy eating and value for money, and will continue to provide a wide range of healthy hot and cold food. Now that the school has come to an end, the holiday period brings an opportunity for both students and staff to balance out some school work with a bit of rest and relaxation
Ngā mihi

Principal
Please note there is currently potential industrial action planned for Term 2, and we will update you as necessary in relation to this.
