Principal's Weekly Review 31st March 2023

Kia ora,

We have just completed the penultimate week of Term 1,  and are grateful that we have been able to complete the majority of what would have been a normal Term 1 programme pre-Covid. We are mindful that sickness and employing new staff is still a bit of a challenge, as it is throughout society in general at the moment.    We are working hard to manage this space, and in particular, as we move into the winter terms.

Students, particularly in the senior school, will be working through a number of assessments that tend to end at the end of the term.  It is important that these deadlines are met, and if there are any concerns that these are communicated with their teachers.

The co-curricular programme has been in full swing.  This week was Summer Tournament Week where both our Girls’ and Boys’ Volleyball teams travelled to Palmerston North.  The feedback has been very positive, and our students have been representing the school with pride.  I would like to thank the staff and parents who have been coaching and supporting them.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks on the sporting front with both the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Swimming and Athletics Championships, South Island Secondary Schools’ Touch Tournament, Volleyball Nationals, and the SISS Athletics Championships all taking place. A detailed report can be found on the Sports page.

Relay for Life Event—Saturday 1st April, from 10.00am until 10.00pm, at Dudley Park in Rangiora.

Family and friends are welcome to come to Dudley Park and walk a lap in support and purchase a coffee/hot chocolate/sausage (all proceeds going to the Cancer Society) At last week’s bake sale and sausage sizzle we raised $888.50. So far the school has fundraised $6,190.21. If you would like to donate - here is the link to our team https://relayforlife.org.nz/t/papanuihighschool

Ngā mihi
