Last Saturday our students participated in the Pasifika Polyfest Celebration in Hagley Park, and what an outstanding performance they produced. The students have been working very hard over the past months, and it was great to see them having pride in their performance, showcasing joy, happiness, and Pasifika flair. Alongside this, on a busy weekend, students were also competing at the Canterbury Athletics Championships, and the Volleyball Championships.
On Monday we had the opportunity to celebrate those students who received Merit, and Excellence Endorsements. We are very proud of our students’ achievements, and I would like to acknowledge all students who worked to the best of their ability, regardless of the level of achievement they received. I would also like to thank the parents/caregivers/whānau members who were able to attend and share in acknowledging our students’ academic success.
Monday night was the PTA’s Annual General Meeting, which included the election of the committee. Congratulations to Amanda Wallwork who has been elected Chairperson. Thank you to the parents/whānau who were present for this process to take place, and for their ongoing commitment and support of Papanui High School.
The Junior parent/teacher evening took place on Thursday evening. We appreciated those parents/caregivers/whānau who were able to attend. The evening was a wonderful opportunity to get back to face to face conversations and shared discussion about supporting students’ learning and progress.
We finished the week with a fundraising non-uniform day to raise funds for schools impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle. Students also held a bake sale, sausage sizzle and coffee cart for Relay for Life fundraising.
