This week has been very much a ‘business as usual’, for our junior students, without too many disruptions. In saying that we have had our final two Year 10 Outdoor Education camps take place. These camps were an opportunity for the students to test their skills in an authentic environment.
On Thursday the Kimi Ora Department held its annual end of year, and farewell celebration. This year the venue was moved to the Northcity Church nearby on Sawyers Arms Road due to the very large number of people who wished to attend. The performances showcased some of the skills the students have learned, and also reflected on of the year. A special moment was the highlighting of the journey that four departing senior students have taken throughout their time here.
On Friday we held our Junior Activity Day. The students thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities, and were engaged and full of energy right through to the end of the day. I'd like to congratulate the students for the manner in which they involved themselves, and the staff for the extra effort required to offer these types of events. A significant number of Year 12 students who will take part in the Peer Support training sessions next week, offered to help support the activities and I’d like to acknowledge their involvement, and thank them for their contribution to making this such a successful day.
We look forward to next week, when the NCEA exams come to an end, and on Wednesday Senior sign-out takes place, and the final farewell will be held for our Year 13 students at the Leavers’ dinner that evening. We finish the school year by celebrating with our two Junior Prize givings on Thursday.
