Principal's Weekly Review 6th August 2021

 Kia Orana koutou katoatoa,

This week we celebrated Cook Island Māori Language Week (Te Reo Māori Kuki Airani).

I would like congratulate our students who attended the SPACPAC Supreme Academic Awards last Thursday evening, acknowledging our Pasifika Academic High Achieving Students.  Valupe Siufanga and Chela McClausland were presented with Pasifika Academic High Achiever awards, and Blessing Bure, Sela Fehui Moe Tali, and Mercy Paulo were presented with the Pasifika Student Leaders Awards. Well done to all.

The next two weeks are very busy for our Music students.  Last weekend Jazz students performed at the Jazz Quest Big Band competition against schools from around the country, and won a silver medal.  This week, students travelled to the annual Southern Jam Festival in Marlborough and we wish them every success this year.

On Thursday 12th August the school will be holding our annual Academic Counselling Conference Day. This day is designed to actively assist in raising student achievement.  When students are actively aware of their own achievement and academic aspirations and goals, they have greater ownership and responsibility for their success. Please prioritise this as a “must attend” meeting, and we look forward to sharing the day with you.  Appointments for students and their whānau will be available throughout the day from 8.00am until 8.00pm.

Ngā mihi nui

Jo Hunnikin

 Associate Principal
