Principal's Weekly Review 31st May 2019
On Friday’s Staff Only Day, our staff, along with staff from local primary and intermediate schools, and early childhood centres in our Tōtaranui Community of Learning, took part in the inaugural Tōtaranui Kāhui Ako Conference, where staff participated in workshops and listened to guest speakers. As a community, our focus was on Hono - Connect, Mahi Tahi - Collaborate, and, E Tipu - Grow. Our conference allowed us to do this by getting to know our location, as it is our greatest asset.
I would like to acknowledge and thank Superintendent Price, Canterbury District Commander of Police, for his keynote address giving an insight into their work supporting our community ‘be safe, feel safe’ and, Rhea Waretini and Janina Konia, who spoke about engaging with iwi and hapu. We also had another ten workshop presenters who spoke on a range of topics that supported the theme ‘know your location, as it is our greatest asset’, and I would like to acknowledge how appreciative we are of them in coming in and sharing their knowledge and experience.
Overall, it was a very positive day and a wonderful opportunity for all our local schools to get together and share some learning.
I hope the long weekend provides an opportunity for some rest and relaxation.
