Principal's Weekly Review 30thJuly 2021
Kia ora,
Welcome to Term 3.
I hope that the holiday period provided an opportunity to enjoy some down time with family and friends.
This week I returned to school following my hip operation. I would like to acknowledge and thank our Associate Principal, Jo Hunnikin, who was Acting Principal in my absence.
On Thursday 12th August the school will be holding our annual Academic Counselling Conference Day . This day is designed to actively assist in raising student achievement. When students are actively aware of their own achievement and academic aspirations/goals, they have greater ownership and responsibility for their success. Please prioritise this as a “must attend” meeting, and we look forward to sharing the day with you. Appointments for students and their whānau will be available throughout the day from 8.00am until 8.00pm.
Plans are already well underway for 2022, as we are receiving Year 9 enrolments up until the end of July. Further to this, senior students will be making course choices for 2022 over the coming weeks. The Senior Course booklet will soon be available on-line. It is very important that students look at this information, and engage in discussion about this with parents/caregivers, their form teacher, and subject teachers to ensure they make informed decisions about subject choices for next year. The Careers Department is also a very valuable source of information and support for this process.
We have some key events happening in the first five weeks of this term. These include:
· The 3rd Accord Day for 2021 - Tuesday 10th August (the school will be closed for instruction)
· Academic Counselling Conference Day - Thursday 12th August
· Senior Course Selection Evening - Thursday 19th August
· Mid-term Break - Friday 27th August (the school will be closed for instruction)
