Principal's Weekly Review 28th May 2021
Kia ora,
The colder weather did not deter the large number of members of the community who attended our Open Evening on Tuesday. Over 1000 visitors, both parents and prospective students were welcomed into our school. We are very thankful for the wonderful turnout, and also appreciate of the effort of both our staff and several hundred students who acted as Open Night guides and subject helpers with displays. The feedback has been very positive and we are very appreciative of that.
As we come to the middle of Term 2 we are well and truly settling into our teaching and learning programmes with many students engaging in that nice balance of curriculum and co-curriculum activities. For example, Winter sport started last week, a large number of students are involved in rehearsals for the production, our Service Council is supporting a number of fundraisers, and the usual array of curriculum based trips are operating to enhance students’ learning.
On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week I will away be attending the Secondary Principals’ Association of New Zealand conference in Marlborough.
Just to let you know that on the 8th of June I will having an operation to replace my hip and will be looking forward to my return which will be at the beginning of Term 3. In my absence our Associate Principal, Jo Hunnikin will be Acting Principal.
Ngā mihi nui
