Principal's Weekly Review- 23 March 2018
Last Saturday our students participated in the Pasifika Polyfest Celebration, and what an outstanding performance they produced. This event is growing from strength to strength, and it was noticeable by the increase of the number of schools that were participating. It’s great to see all schools having pride in their performances showcasing joy, happiness, and Pasifika flair.
Also on Saturday, Papanui High School was the host school for the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Athletic Championships. I’d like to acknowledge and thank the staff and students for the commitment they displayed in contributing to a well run and very successful day. The Canterbury Athletics Association and Sport Canterbury, who oversee this event, were extremely congratulatory and grateful for the contribution made by our school. A number of our students performed exceptionally well, please see the sports report for details.
Monday night was the PTA’s Annual General Meeting, which included the election of the committee. Congratulations to Carolynne Som, who has once again been elected as President. Chris Mackintosh was elected Treasurer, Delwyn Harrison as Secretary, Rose Foster the Vice President, and Gaye Shearer in charge of second-hand uniforms. Thank you to the parents/whanau who were present for this process to take place, and for their ongoing commitment and support of Papanui High School.
A reminder that if anyone is interested in joining the PTA, please contact the school for details.
Next Monday, staff will be busy working through the process of Academic Interviews with all Year 9 – 13 students. This is an essential step in ensuring students are on course and working positively towards achieving their goals and qualifications (Y 11 – 13) for the year. It also provides information that will be built upon and used in the Academic Conference Day in Term 2.
