Principal's Weekly Review 19th March 2021

Kia ora,

Monday night was the PTA’s Annual General Meeting, which included the AGM and the election of the Executive Committee.  Congratulations to Amanda Wallwork who has been elected President, and Robyn Jameson, Vice President, the acting secretary is Claire Arthurs.  We would like to sincerely thank the out-going President Carolynne Som for her ongoing commitment and support of our school for over 10 years. She has truly been an asset to our school, and a valued member of our PTA. We wish her all the best for the future.

The BP Business Challenge took place this week.  79 Year 11 students took part in the three-day exercise to create a product idea, research the viability of taking it to the market, and present a business plan to a panel of local business leaders. The judging panel were extremely impressed with the quality of ideas that were presented, and praised the students for their creative thought and detailed planning.

We have 13 students participating in the semis/finals at the Christchurch Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships on Saturday at Ngā Puna Wai. We wish them every success.

I would like to remind parents and caregivers of the upcoming Junior Parent-Teacher evening for our Year 9 and 10 students on Thursday 8th April from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.  We will be sending out more information next week on how to book appointments for the evening with your student's subject teachers.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Ngā mihi nui

Jo Hunnikin
