Kia ora,
I would like to thank our parents/caregivers for your support as the staff completed the final Accord Day for 2023. There are Accord Days scheduled for next year and we will advise closer to the times. The Accord Day also provided an opportunity for the Junior Work Day to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House.
One of the misconceptions in New Zealand secondary schools is that after the senior students take exam leave that there is a period of ‘winding down’ before the Christmas break. At Papanui High School the last weeks of term are full of learning opportunities and it has been fantastic to see our students focusing on these.
Over the next three and a half weeks, many students will be participating in the final Year 10 Outdoor Education camps, Activities Day, the Kimi Ora Celebration, and once the exams are finished, a large number of Year 12’s will be back on site for Peer Support Training at the beginning of December.
On Thursday afternoon it was delightful to have an enthusiastic group of Alumni visit the school for an ‘Alumni Reconnection’ get-together and afternoon tea. The group consisted of ex-students from over a number of decades.
Next Thursday (23rd) the annual Tōtaranui Kāhui Ako Cultural Festival will be held at Casebrook Intermediate. There is a variety of food available. This family friendly free event will be held from 4.00pm until approximately 6.45pm.
Building Update
The Science/Maths Block is now really starting to show the progress being made with the scaffolding starting to come down, and the exterior being quite visible.
I hope everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the long weekend, and that the weather plays its part.
Ngā mihi
Jeff Smith
Principal
