Kia ora,
On Monday evening the PTA hosted a community evening with Clinical Psychologist Catherine Gallagher who presented to a good sized audience tips and strategies around understanding and supporting ‘teen’ anxiety. Given the positive turn-out, the PTA would like to offer future opportunities for our community to attend on relevant and current topics of interest.
Winter Tournament Week
Our teams have had some great results. NETBALL finished in 7th place overall out of 32 teams, FOOTBALL Girls finished in 3rd place and Boys finished in 5th place, HOCKEY The girls will play for 3rd/4th place and the Boys will play off for 5th/6th.
The Junior Badminton Team had great results at the Secondary Schools’ Badminton Championships, with two students winning the Triple Crown. There are more details on the Sports page.
PROPERTY UPDATE
West Learning Hub
The focus this week was working inside the building on fit out work (services, framing and plasterboard). Outside the cladding is continuing working to fascia framing. Linings will commence later in the week. Four staff members from the Mathematics and Science Department had their first look inside the building. Pictured: The staff excitingly explore the top floor.

Scaffolding around the structure has started.
Good luck to our Senior Theatresports team who are performing in the finals on Sunday 3rd September, from 3.00pm at the Court Theatre.
LOCK DOWN PRACTICE - Wednesday 6th September
As part of keeping our school safe we need to be able to respond safely and quickly to a range of emergency situations. On Wednesday 6th September we will be conducting a Lock Down exercise under the guidance and support of Harrison Tew. Further information for students and whānau will be sent out on Monday.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES UPDATE - TUMUAKI / PRINCIPAL’S APPOINTMENT
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Gilbert to the position of Principal from January 2024. Robert is currently Deputy Principal at Tauranga Boys’ College.
