There is a focus on preparing the students to be independent and informed users of the outdoors.

Course work can be based in practical contexts including: bush craft, tramping, safety management, rock climbing, mountain biking, camping, snow skills, weather, trip planning, navigation, Outdoor First Aid, environmental sustainability and ropes course.

Courses can include a significant number of trips during school time. Students are expected to manage a workload and commitments to make themselves available.

Note:
Students may need to provide some of their own equipment for aspects of courses which could include basic outdoor clothing and equipment – raincoat (waterproof and preferably breathable), thermal base layer clothing, synthetic or wool insulation layer clothing, sturdy footwear, sleeping bag and mountain bike.

This course will develop an awareness and knowledge of outdoor environments, which may lead to further study in a range of outdoor professions including Adventure Tourism, Outdoor instruction, Eco Tourism, Conservation and Environmental education.
