This class would be ideal for the student that would like to expand their knowledge and explore different forms of mediums through to the novice that has little or no prior knowledge or experience of Art. Learn the differences between acrylic paints and mediums such as paints, gels, pastes, grounds and additives, explore colour and colour mixing.

CROCHET FOR BEGINNERS - 4 Vacancies

Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet?  Come along and join this fun class where you will learn the basic crochet techniques of chain, double crochet, treble and tieing off.  Students will do some practice crocheting, which can be turned into an object of their choice they will also learn to make a beanie and a granny square - which is the basic square for many blanket designs.

FURNITURE POLISHING AND RESTORATION - 

In this class students will learn the basics of stripping, sanding and repolishing their own items of furniture.  This is a hands on course and students need to bring an item of furniture eg chair, coffee table, nest of tables or tea wagon to work on.  Fee includes the cost of materials.

MOSAICS - CREATE YOUR OWN MASTERPIECE BEGINNERS TO ADVANCED - 4 Vacancies


Are you a Magpie that likes collecting treasurers, such as beautfiul old china, coloured glass, mirror, stone, beads, coins and much more. A combination of these items can be turned into a Mosaic masterpiece made by yourself. Come along to this fun class and learn how to Mosaic. No experience is required, just a desire to learn this craft.  You will learn where to get/source goods from especially upcycling and repurposing.  Everyone in the class is working on their own project.

SCREEN PRINTING ON FABRIC 

A concentrated weekend course exploring the basics of screen printing on fabric.  A fun, hands on and really creative weekend for people with no knowledge or experience of fabric printing, just a passion to give it a go.  Taking your own designs on paper through the print process to create unique printed fabrics, garments, linen, t-shirts or fabric lengths.  A course that shows you basic fabric and screen printing techniques, many of which can be continued with at home.

CREATIVE SOY CANDLE MAKING 

Have fun and learn to create your own soy container candles and melts, either for yourself or ideal as a gift.  Discover more about soy wax, fragrance, wick selection and trouble shooting common candle making issues.  This is a hands on course where you will make 3 full sized scented candles, 6 melts, 5 tea lights and 1 votive.  The cost of all materials is included in the course fee

REQUIREMENTS  Students will need to bring a saucepan and wax receptacle (to be heatproof either metal or glass).  This wax receptacle will need to sit in the top of your saucepan without touching the water underneath - similar to the idea of a double boiler when melting chocolate.  You will also need a pouring jug - either metal or glass with measurements on the side in mls, oven gloves and apron, metal spoon (large), pen and paper.  You are also welcome to bring a small glass or ceramic container that you would like to fill and a candy thermometer (sugar or jam thermometer)  if you have one.

This course is designed for those people who are beginners in the field of woodwork. The class will begin by making common project eg Tea Tray. From there after gaining skills from the above projects you can move on to make a project of your choice provided it is within the range of your capabilities. Additional project costs involved.

This class gives people the opportunity to develop skills and friendships as they work on their own project. No recycled timber to be used. Wood turning also available. Help with problems is given by the tutor.  Woodturning is also available.
