Peter Robinson Trip – Centre of Contemporary Art  May 3rd

A group of Senior Art students were privileged to attend a talk by well-known NZ artist Peter Robinson recently. Peter treated our students to a personal tour of his exhibition currently on at COCA (Centre of Contemporary Art).  He shared information about his practice, personal methodology and conceptual processes in a relaxed and thoroughly engaging way.

Peter is a local who grew up on a farm near Methven and trained at the UC School of Fine Arts in the late 1980’s. He has gone on to develop an outstanding career and his current show at COCA is quite possibly his best show yet. I suggested this to Peter and he agreed, so we are indeed lucky to have been given the opportunity to meet this artist and enjoy his company for a morning.

The insights Peter shared enabled the students to gain a deeper understanding of his work, several students commented on how his insights changed their understanding of his show.
