Principal's Weekly Review 31st August 2018

This week has been extremely busy with the Year 12 Outdoor Education Snow trip, Year 10 to Year 11 Course Selection evening, and the Infinite Dance showcase, which was held on Thursday and Friday evenings – all on top of the usual teaching and learning that takes place in our school.  Thank you to all those staff and students who contributed to making each of these events such a success.

Senior students have just received their timetable and information relating to their ‘Formative Assessments’ which will be held during Week 9 of this term; 17 – 21 September.  These assessments are to assist in their preparation for their external exams later in November.  It is important they take these assessments seriously and study hard as well as manage their time wisely.  Senior students will only be required to be at school during assessment week if they have an exam, other type of assessment, or arranged tutorial or practical work as indicated on the Examination timetable.  They should take advantage of this time to study and catch up on school work, complete assignments and other course related work.  They are encouraged to study at home or if they want to come into school, they can use A12 – the careers room for quiet study.  ‘Managing self’ will be critical for senior students over the next few weeks in the lead up to assessment week.

Next week many of our students will be playing in their respective Winter Sports tournaments around different cities and towns in the South Island.  We wish them safe travel and a wonderful time as they compete against other schools from around New Zealand.

Mr Jeff Smith, our Principal is travelling in Japan at present for two weeks to visit host families and for marketing purposes, so I am ‘Acting Principal’ during his absence.

Thank you for your continued support of our school.
